Fishing Report January 3

Ice fishing season is in full swing and our pals Dawson & Kodi from Northern BC Outfitters just sent over some intel if you’re looking to get out there for some great winter fishing around Smithers. Straight from the horses’ mouths:

“We’ve been out quite a bit doing some ice fishing on local lakes. Best depths for brook trout was 4-7 feet deep, small flashy spoons and small white jigs worked best. If the fish were being picky we tipped our jigs with shrimp and that would often trigger bites. We’ve been targeting the rainbow trout in 7-12 feet of water focusing on points and shoals with good success. The rainbow trout have been keying in on small presentations like tungsten jig heads tipped with shrimp and white soft plastic minnow jigs.” - Dawson Schwarz, Northern BC Outfitters

As always, swing by Oscars or give us a call if you’re looking for the right fishing gear or intel to ensure a fun and successful adventure out on the water!
