And here we go again! The 2017 fishing season is underway.
Fishing has started in the Terrace and Kitimat area. Some steelhead and some chinook have been caught in and around the Kalum / Skeena. The weather has been interesting with lots of wind and some ice to contend with on the banks of the Skeena. Water conditions have been challenging as well. Low. A number of jet boats stuck on gravel/sand bars….
The lakes in our area are still frozen. Very little snow at the beginning of the winter and cold temperatures have made for lots of ice on most lakes. Up to 4 feet on Round Lake…. It will be a little longer before we will fish lakes this year. Last year the ice was off Lake Kathlyn and Ross Lake in March…..
Crab and halibut fishing has been ok. Eulachons have been entering the Skeena for a while now.
