The Bulkley is one of the few rivers that did not blow out last week. It has come up just a bit and is in nice shape still. Just slightly higher than a year ago at the same date. Let's hope for some rain through out the fall.
With most rivers west of us blowing out we had a few new faces in town this week trying to find some steelhead. A few fish caught here and there for sure. No rime or reason for location or what to use at this time. Fish are on the move. Perfect time of year to try a dry fly or smaller more traditional flies.
Just got home from a quick fish (August 28 evening) and the Bulkley has coloured up considerably. I am assuming that the Telkwa is bringing in some dirt....
The Kispiox is coming back into shape. It was at almost 2 meters August 22. It should be in prime shape in a day or two - unless of course we get more rain.
Tough fishing on the Skeena /Copper this past week. High high water. About 6 inches of vis as of today on the Skeena. It is dropping and should be in shape in a day or two - again spending on the weather conditions.
River was high and dirty yesterday. A couple of cohos caught. River is dropping and fishing is improving. Fishing should be really good tomorrow. Thank you to our good friend Ron Wakita for the intel. Look him up here should you ever need a guide on the Kitimat River or in the Channel.
